If I could travel back to the 1970's, I would ...

it’s a fun, interactive fantasy piece. Just finish the thought from the subject line within your comment. If I could travel back to the 1970's, I would ...

.. head straight to McDonalds

and order their orange juice,

which had less water and better prices back then.

Cowboys and Aliens

We went to see Cowboys and Aliens, last night, me and Roberta. IL was going to, maybe, take all the boys, if they had been paying me, but, they have not done, yet; was going to take Jordan, anyway, but, he decided not to go at the last minute.

There were more people at the theater for that one movie than there usually are for all the movies combined. Very good movie! The thing is, at one point I noticed that this one scene was so much like the Owls of .. wherever the owls are from, that it was weird. Last night, I realized that the basic storyline is the same, as well.  That dampened my enjoyment of the film, in memory; but, still, it was good.

Yesterday, I got some dishes washed, clothes put away, more trash out, put the smaller vacuums out in that storage "shed" (more of a large rolling storage cart), and, after watching the movie and another movie at Roberta's then coming home, I wrote a new bit on the never-ending story.  Thanks to Jehovah, who I have been praying to  for help in straightening out my life.

Oh, and I finally finished reading that one chapter of Leviticus. Don't think I mentioned it on this blog, but, there was a chapter I was reading, and I got very tired about halfway through, and just never took it up again. No, that does not mean I was not reading the Bible. I've been reading it online, and the chapter I hadn't finished was offline, in a proper book.

Made chili spaghetti for dinner. Most of my tomato sauce really is gone and the one can of tomato paste that I could find hissed at me when I opened it, so I ended up using refried beans to thicken the sauce, which I had added vegetable broth to so there would be liquid besides olive oil. Also added the rest of the red and yellow bell peppers and a bag of mixed frozen veggies (California Medley type) and a can of Fry's chili beans. The end result was good to me and it must have been good to the boys, as the pan is nearly gone.

This morning, the trash is out, waiting to be emptied and I did not have to take it to the sidewalk, because, I asked Jordan to do it and he did it. Hopefully, it really will be emptied as I have more to fill it back up with, already waiting; and, some of it is quite stinky. Including a cantaloupe that was never eaten, as we put it off and put it off, then, last week, when we really were going to eat it, we read about a listeria outbreak in cantaloupe and the article suggested that if you do not know where your cantaloupe came from, to get rid of it.

I am heating up some of my leftover chili spaghetti for breakfast ( knowing I shall be mightily gassy all day) and  was making ready to transfer some more artwork off of Red Bubble; but, that was before I decided I had better eat something.

I've recently found and started taking, again, the Three Spice Sinus Complex pills I had bought from Warehouse Vitamins some time ago. They must be working, because, when I did stupid things and bought a package of two cookies and a package of cinnamon bears for me and Roberta to share, I realized I could smell them, and not just a little bit. However, the pills really do a number on my tummy, if it has nothing else in it.

So, I think  a little HGTV is in order, while I eat. Then, maybe some transferring of art.

Good morning!

It is a lovely 10:13 am, with heat rising from the pavement faster than an egg can fry (whatever that means) and I am here, alone, as the boys, of varying ages and sizes, have all gone tripping off to ?? Hopefully to find gainful employment, so that they can come home with many lovely presents of $10 bills for me. I won't hold my breath, though.

Got some clothes put away, some hamburger out to make dinner, and managed to block that one site I have trouble not going back to. Actually, I did that before I went to bed, or, after I got up again and then before I went back to bed.

Cricket (grasshopper?) problems, last night. I was almost asleep and one of them thwacked the tin foil on the window. Others were rustling around. I think they might be eating it! There are little holes in many places. Grasshoppers are weird!

Anyway, hard to sleep with crickets and/or grasshoppers climbing about, jumping, thwacking aluminum foil, rustling worse than cattle thieves .. even the ones who fry eggs on sidewalks .. and generally living up to the title of "Bug". So, I got up, found myself on that site again, and someone tried to send me a virus, again. Fortunately, I had a new privacy firewall thingy installed.

Tonight, I shall probably make spaghetti, or, I might make a stew. Anyway, probably it will be one for one night and the other for the next night, as it is rather a large thing of ground beef and I had been too lazy to divide it up when it was purchased. Fortunately, it will be feeding 5 people, probably on both nights, so, it is not as bad as trying to plan meals for only one or two people, like when Erica was here.

That was a joke. See if you can catch it.

For breakfast, because it was one of the easiest things to find and utilize, I am having an old can of Wolfgang Puck's Chicken and Dumplings.

Arggghhh!

So, as per many conversations last night and yesterday in general, my nephew and his g irlfriend are probably going to be moving out to his friend's place. The boy (and I use the term loosely because he is about 30 years old), went out and immediately got a job interview - which I pointed out to my sister means that, if he got one that quick when he thought he had to move, he could have done the same thing a year ago and been paying the bills - and, instead of wanting to stay and pay things off, is planning on moving out and leaving his mother in the lurch.

Because he is planning on doing that,my sister and our lovely parents were talking of ways to keep both this house and the duplex and, basically, making plans without me. Some of those plans were for her to move into this house and live by herself and some of them were for her to move in and live with me, and some of them were for me to be forced to live in that dank, damp, dungeon of a two-bedroom apartment where my nephew and his girlfriend lived. Which, by the way is partly dank and damp form them having lived there.

Needless to say, it is quite upsetting. Here, much cleaning has been done, I've found roommates, I'm becoming more self-sufficient, and, their only thoughts for me are that they can bully me about and do as they please, as I , like my sister, do not have enough money to pay all my own bills.

I need more money coming in, some way.

Clean up has commenced

No money from anyone, but, at least they put in some good work, today. Still much to do by way of sorting out what to keep, but, the major trash is gone and the back room is semi-habitable. So, that's very cool.

Did not take my supplements last night (actually it would have been this morning as it was past 2:30 am before I went to bed), but, I'll try to remember to do it, tonight. I did remember them, last night, after I laid down, but, I was so sore.

My sister invited her son and his girlfriend to use her car to look for work in the morning, this morning, but ,they refused to go do it; and, that is after she explained the situation to them, that they had to find a job or they had to move out. So, Mom is writing them up an eviction notice and serving it upon them. Or, maybe Roberta is serving it upon them. Not sure. Anyway, they have definitely been being problematic in ways.

What really gets me is that they stole my food. No wait - I don't mean that just the way it sounds. It is that  they know I am poor, they know they get more food stamps than me - okay and that's just part of it - because, they know I was sharing food with Roberta, on her days off, quite often; and, they know I sometimes buy her stuff when we are out or if she takes me shopping for groceries, so they are also hurting her and they are hurting the situation between themselves and her. But, wait, there's more.

My nephew thought my son stole things from his  mom. This is not a "did he or didn't he issue", this is a he thought it happened, so, acting on his belief that it happened, he did what he thought was right. He beat my son up and has basically disowned him. He can't forgive him. He says it is unforgivable to steal from family.
Yet, he stole my food or at least he allowed someone else to steal it, and I don't see anyone's ass getting kicked or anyone getting shunned for it. And, since it was something I shared with his mother, sometimes, they stole her food as well. So, he did, in effect the same thing he thought my son did .. except ...

The things my son was accused of stealing were entertainment related. Food is survival. No one dies from not enough Braveheart; but, one can die from not enough food.

I want him to kick his own ass, for stealing from his mother and then to shun himself and refuse to ever give himself another cigarette or get himself stoned. Then, I want him to do it again, because, he stole from me.
Then, more importantly, I want him to start empathizing with people, understanding them from the viewpoint of the standards he has for himself, including allowing himself to fail but still treating himself as a member of the family, rather than the standards he can't live up to, but, which he holds other people up to and judges them by.

And, for the record, this was not just a little bit of food. Oh, I had my suspicions before this last week, that things were missing, but, I didn't write down everything I bought and all that, and the freezer was still fairly full. But, having the EBT card lost, having the problems with DES that I've been having, my sister having the problems that she's been having, I got worried.

Well, no, that's not st rictly accurate. I was worried if there was enough food; but, I noticed it happened because I was going to enhance some leftover spaghetti with frozen spinach and Italian Sausage and what I found was that the Italian Sausage that I had distinctly found and set in a convenient place, in case I wanted to use it for that very thing, the night before, was gone.

While searching for it, I found that almost all the frozen veggies and packages of chicken, etc. were also gone. I had one big chub of hamburger, 1 package of steaks, 2 packages of chicken, 2 things of Almond milk and 3 packages of frozen veggies left.

I should have had at least 6 things of Almond Milk left, and at least 8 packages of chicken, along with 4 or 5 packages of Italian Sausage, a few packages of chuck steak, some country style ribs, some pork chops (not sure how many)  and a buttload of California style frozen veggies, frozen spinach, frozen green beans, mixed veggies (the kind that says for soup, but is like good quality Veg-All), some burritos, some more hot pockets, a package of chicken nuggets and another package of hamburger patties. And, that's what I, for sure, remember, that's missing.

Am watching a movie called Troll Hunter, which got some spectacularly lousy reviews on Netflix, though it got some good ones as well. So far, I am enjoying it, immensely, and would recommend it.

Oh, DES sent me a notice that they cut me off of Food Stamps, because, allegedly I did not make it to an interview on September 16th. However, I told them I had to do the interviews at home, for one thing; for another, I received no notice there would be an interview and no phone call from them. And, I did receive a letter telling me approval was pending them having all information by the 3rd of October and all information was turned in Friday, September 30th.

But, these are the people who have several different addresses on file for me, as well. So ...

Today ..

Well, first of all, I let Adam (Jordan's friend) know that Mikey is not welcome. Later on, I let Jordan and Marcus know. Later on, I let Mikey know. He had to be told what he had done that was so rude; couldn't figure out that not paying me, sneaking in without anyone's permission (Jordan didn't even know that the guy had come in), sneaking his girlfriend in, then being dismissive with me was all rude.

I also mentioned, as I left,  to go to Roberta's, that if Adam shows up, tell him my new policy is that if someone wants to spend the night, they need to have $10 in their hand. Asked Jordan and Marcus to do 3 (Jordan says 4 things). Out of the 4, 2 got done; out of the 3, 1 got done. The easiest bits, of course. But, at least it was something.

Adam showed up, about midway through the "Jordan says" bit of the sentence above, too. He says he has $10 for me, but, he has to break it.

And, now, I think I shall .. hmm .. maybe go to bed; maybe, dream a while.

(sigh)

I came home last night to find Adam (Jordan's friend) laying on the floor in the back room. I told him he could go sleep in Erica's bed, but, he said he was fine there.  Later on, I heard some coughing that sounded suspiciously like it was coming from the back bedroom.

This morning I heard the coughing some more and some of it was distinctly girly coughing. After a while, I heard the door open and I saw Mikey, one of Jordan's friends in the hallway. That is, I had heard him go into the hallway bathroom and I saw him when he came out. I told him "Come here."  and he looked directly aft me, then he sort of waved his hand in a dismissive fashion as he walked away from me.

Now, the other night, I told him he could spend the night, with the understanding that he would pay me $10 the next day (which would have been yesterday)). We never discussed him spending the night again.

I don't like Mikey. For one thing, straight from the start, he was being less than honest and seeking advantages. To whit, he had his girlfriend hidden and did not mention her until after I agreed to let him spend the night.

I agreed to $10 for that one night, but, it's supposed to be $10 per night, per person, so he now owes me $30. If he had come to talk to me, I would have told him how it is going to be, if he is going to be here, but, since he did not come talk to me, but dismiissed me, ignored me, then snuck out, that's no longer an option.

I've told Adam that if he sees Mikey, tell him not to even come back here, and I explained a bit  as to why. He said he'll tell him.

Right now, I could cheerfully chew Jordan's arm off for putting me in this position!

Last night, I rented the movie Ondine from Redbox, hoping hat it would have subtitles and it did - in Spanish; so, not entirely helpful. We could have just watched it on Netflix, then, and saved $1.09 for another time. Nevertheless, it was a good movie and I found Colin Farrell enormously attractive.

Yes, I realize to some of you, this is not news, for many people find Colin Farrell attractive. I, in general, am not one of them; but, then, he is often playing someone creepy. This time, he was playing a hard working man who loves his daughter and is kind to strangers. He was gorgeous!

Yesterday afternoon, I threw out most of my pill bottles, but, not the pills in them. I put them in plastic zip loc bags and stuck them in the freezer. Is it a good idea? I don't know. It is certainly a space saving idea.

Then, last night, I took the L-Arginine 500 mg/ L-Orthinine 250 mg capsules, two of them, before going to bed. I'm going to try to remember to keep doing that.

Jehovah has been helping me.

Anyway, I talked to Jordan's friends, yesterday, Marcus and Adam, who I keep wanting to call Paul for some reason, and they do both want to move in. Decided the best plan is to leave the Captain's bed in the living room, then put the couch in here, as well, with some chest-o-drawers. And, by living room, I meant  dining room, but, now that I think about it, maybe they should be in the living room.  Either that or I shall have to train everyone to come around to the side door.  Hmmmm ....

This morning, after Mikey and everyone else left, I pulled Erica's bed out of the back bedroom. Need to hurry up and get stuff in there, and occupy it, me.
